Develops training plans for employees in fields of fire protection, workplace safety, and occupational health, including accomplishment and documentation of training.
Coordinates and implements a safety program for routine construction projects.
Conducts regular walk-through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with federal, state and agency laws and policies.
Attends project pre-planning, progress and other relevant project-related meetings to discuss safety-related matters.
Provides technical assistance and interpretations of applicable codes to a variety of individuals.
Supports leadership in the implementation of the safety program specifics, such as meetings, committees and related activities well as chairing a Construction Safety Committee or Accident Review Board.
Assists in the investigation of project-related accidents to determine root cause and discuss recommendations for changes in the work processes to eliminate recurrence.
Advises senior level management officials on the status of various Safety programs and recommends changes in the design of work programs to meet new safety and occupational health standards.
Prepares reports of inspections and evaluations to identify safety and program deficiencies requiring correction and improvement.
Develops or implements programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses.
Demonstrates knowledge of Joint Commission standards, safety and occupational health management standards, regulations, and precedent decisions governing all areas of the environment of care in medical centers.
Uses knowledge of the principles and practices of construction safety utilized in the evaluation and management of construction projects to include but not limited to excavations (trenching), fall protection, confined space operations, and crane and lift operations.
Conducts training classes for supervisors in fire, safety, accident prevention and reporting, etc., and conducts safety promotional programs for all services as scheduled.
