    Summary

    This position is located in the Office of Infrastructure R&D (HRDI) of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Research, Development, and Technology (HRT).  HRDI is responsible for the management and conduct of a national research and development program addressing innovative technologies for the design, construction, inspection, operation, management, and preservation of the highway infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    As a Research Civil Engineer, you will:

    • Plan, conduct, manage and review research and development activities associated with concrete materials used in the highway infrastructure (pavements, bridges and other structures).
    • Plan and conduct materials research and development activities associated with other structural materials (e.g., steel, fiber reinforced polymers, aluminum, etc.).
    • Assist with research and development activities associated with other highway infrastructure research.
    • Formulate research and manage research as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for research and development contracts in his/her area of expertise

    IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate is a professional with experience in managing research and development projects and laboratory facilities in the conduct of a concrete materials research program.
