The ideal candidate is one who should have the ability to identify, analyze and clarify issues, and to resolve conflicting or competing points of view on matters of both fact and law, often under great time pressure. He or she should also possess excellent research and writing skills necessary to develop and draft well-written legal analyses that adhere to applicable laws and regulations for memoranda, briefs, opinions, policies and procedures.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
To qualify for the GS-11 and GS-12 Attorney position:
You must have completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have a professional law degree, and must currently be a member in good standing of the bar of a State or Territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
