Performs duties under the direction of the Youth Services (YS) Sports and Fitness (S&F) Director or Assistant CYS S&F Director.Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of installation youth fitness, health, and outreach programs in multiple CYS settings. Develops and maintains and partnerships with schools and community organizations to enhance CYS fitness and health programs.Within an existing curriculum, develops and implements lesson plans and appropriate environments that incorporate a broad range of fitness and health activities for early childhood, school age, and youth program participants.
Provides training, observation, and feedback to CYS staff on fitness and health initiatives, such as weight training, sports conditioning, functional fitness, basic nutrition, motor skills, or other specialized programs for various ages and fitness levels.Maintains control of and accountability for all attending children and youth. Models appropriate behaviors and techniques to establish a program that promotes positive child, youth, staff, and parent interactions. Plans field trips to fitness and health events.
Assists in training coaches using the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines. Provides assistance in planning practices to ensure appropriate warm up/cool down techniques, injury prevention, proper use of materials and equipment, and positive parent relations. Shares expertise in the operation of age-appropriate exercises and skills development for children and youth.Helps inspect facilities/programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and makes recommendations for improvements. Secures supplies, equipment, and facilities as appropriate
