The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is looking for an experienced senior level executive to serve as the Director, Division of Engineering, Planning and Operations in the Office of Electric Reliability. This Division of Engineering, Planning and Operations is responsible for identifying reliability-related issues within electric rate filings submitted to FERC and for evaluating their engineering aspects and potential impacts to the Bulk Power System; providing the Commission with regular updates on the integrity of the Bulk Power System and timely information during emergencies; reviewing reliability assessments performed by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation and; conducting independent analysis of emerging reliability issues that may have an impact on the Bulk Power System. The Office of Electric Reliability helps protect and improve the reliability of the Nation's Bulk Power System through effective regulatory oversight as established by Congress and the President in the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This includes overseeing the development and review of mandatory and enforceable reliability standards, as well as ensuring compliance with the approved standards by the users, owners, and operators of the Bulk Power System.
Major Duties:
As the Director, Division of Engineering, Planning and Operations, reporting directly to the Deputy Director, Office of Electric Reliability, you will play a vital role in monitoring, analyzing and addressing issues concerning the Nation's bulk power system. You will also lead the Office's efforts to assist on rate and tariff filings. You will manage and lead a diverse, highly skilled staff, in analyzing and developing recommendations on tariff policy initiatives, and designing and executing system planning and operations studies and impact analyses, which includes:
--Reviewing, analyzing and evaluating reliability-related rate and tariff filings for their engineering aspects and potential impacts to the Bulk Power System;
--Monitoring, analyzing and addressing existing and emerging issues concerning the Nation's Bulk Power System and providing the Commission with informed analysis of the Bulk Power System's real-time operations and planning studies, and;
--Overseeing the operation of a 24/7 emergency monitoring system of the Bulk Power System and providing timely information to the Commission during emergencies and system disturbances involving natural or other causes.
FERC has a certified SES Performance Appraisal System. The salary range for each SES position is determined by the level of responsibility and duties of the incumbent.
