    About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD, in the Director for Nursing, Department of Critical Care Nursing, Telemetry (3C). Shift work (evenings, weekends, and holidays): this position requires the incumbent to sign up and possibly work on call shifts for regular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary to meet mission requirements.

    • Collecting patient health data; obtain and record patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse ox, pain level and height/weight.
    • Developing, coordinating and executing nursing plan of care, and updating nursing care plan to include nursing interventions/strategies.
    • Providing admission and discharge teaching.
    • Providing patient and family education based on patient care needs.
    • Performing initial comprehensive assessment and history for newly admitted patients upon transfer to unit or ward.
    • Prioritizing care of individual and/or multiple patients.
    • Identifying common abnormalities on a patient's cardiac monitor strip.
    • Preparing medication for administration.
    • Administering IV push medications (not limited to but to include administering and maintaining TPN or PPN) and document response.
    • Performing direct patient care including hygiene, linen change, and range of motion, turning/repositioning, ambulating or feeding patients.
