He/she works collaboratively with others to promote recruitment of the most qualified, diverse applicants as well as promote recognition/retention of current staff. The incumbent works collegially with leadership, Care and Service Line executives, staff, volunteers, visitors, affiliates and other stakeholders within the medical center, the network, VHA, other regulating agencies and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) enhancing infection control practices and implementing new initiatives for improving quality patient care and personal practices.
The Infection Prevention and Control nurse manager, MEDVAMC is responsible for facilitating the fulfillment of the MEDVAMC Mission, Vision, and Values as well as the goals of the Veteran Health Administration (VHA), VISN 16, and the MEDVAMC. As a nursing leader, the incumbent contributes to the vision for the healthcare philosophy, development, and advancement within the MEDVAMC. The Incumbent performs in a manner, which reflects substantial and continuing responsibility and accountability for planning, organizing, directing and controlling an integrated infection control program. The incumbent has direct responsibility in the oversight and management of the infection control staff. She/he interacts with all disciplines across the MEDVAMC in regards to infection control practice across all disciplines within this complex, multi-hospital system.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday-8:00am-4:30pm; variable tours as required
