    This position is located in the Office of Quality, Division of Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Assessment, at the Indian Health Service Headquarters, located in Rockville, Maryland. This position serves as the lead for the implementation and sustainment of comprehensive patient safety programs for the agency. This position reports to the Director, Division of Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management.

    • Adverse Event Prevention: Evaluate areas for improvement or modification in existing or proposed programs, policies, and statutes required to ensure current patient safety and adverse event prevention requirements are met and goals of the comprehensive patient safety program are achieved. Create a culture of safety, identify risks and mitigate strategies based in early disclosure and proactivity and infection prevention and control from the patient-centered/clinical perspective.
    • Adverse Event Response: Lead and develop effective strategies for adverse event response infrastructure, training, sustainment, and learning. Provide oversight and management of related patient safety and adverse event response training resources identification, development, and procurement.
    • Patient Safety Benchmarks, Standards, and Measurement: Develop and manage strategies for measurement aligned with external and internal benchmarks and standards of patient safety. Lead strategic coordination of patient safety resources and relationships related to accreditation or certification compliance and performance.
