This position is located in the Office of Administration. The Human Resources Assistant provides technical support for performance of a wide range of Human Resource (HR) operations to include performance management and awards; staffing and classification, benefits and training and/or payroll. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting with the completion of documents and forms.
- Using the National Finance Center (NFC) automated pay system to update, query, retrieve, and analyze information.
- Conducting new employee orientation.
- Processing and documenting a full range of personnel actions.
- Resolving a variety of non-standard personnel issues related to pay, within-grade increases, service computation dates, accuracy of data on the SF-50 or e-OPF.

QualificationsTIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. To qualify for the GS-7 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service that included: 1) processing personnel data into the National Finance Center (NFC) automated pay system; 2) identifying the scope and nature of employee personnel problems or issues; 3) reviewing and processing personnel action requests or; 4) researching HR policies, procedures, and operations to perform a variety of HR support tasks (i.e., performance management and awards, staffing and classification, benefits, training and/or payroll).

To qualify for the GS-8 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service that included: 1) processing personnel data into the National Finance Center (NFC) automated pay system; 2) providing technical advice and guidance to employees and supervisors on various HR practices and processes; 3) applying researching HR policies, procedures, and operations to perform a variety of HR support tasks (i.e., performance management and awards, staffing and classification, benefits, training and/or payroll) or; 4) resolving personnel issues relating to pay, salary increases, onboard dates, and accuracy of data.
