    This position is located in the Facility Management Service at the Washington DC Medical Center in Washington DC. Carpenter is assigned to the Building Maintenance and Repair unit or the Interior Design unit and is subject to callback for any emergency condition which may arise outside of the regular tour of duty.

    Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Perform preventive maintenance on, repair, install, or replace building service hardware, floors, floor covering, ceiling tile, roofs, gutters, downspouts, trim, windows, doors, etc. on existing structures
    • Perform maintenance on, repair, install, or replace, including assembly and disassembly of cabinets, shelving, office furniture, counters and laboratory work benches, beds, bedside lockers, carts, I.V. poles, overbed tables and other ward furniture
    • Frame, install, relocate, or remove walls, doors, ceiling, etc. for alterations, remodeling or renovation of an area
    • Install forms for curbs, gutters, walks, concrete floors, etc.
    • Maintain necessary logs and records of all work performed, noting date of inspection, condition of physical facilities, work performed, manhours worked, etc.
    • Provide full support to all station programs such as safety, training, work performance standards, and care and use of tools
    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 07:00 a.m. to 03:30 p.m.
