    Summary

    The VA Medical Center in Martinsburg is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner who is certified in Adult Psychiatric Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care as appropriate through individual, group and family sessions. Serves as a clinical consultant/expert to outpatient mental and medical staff on various patient care issues related to mental health.

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will work collaboratively on a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team as well as with other disciplines within the Mental Health Service Line and within the VA Medical Center. The incumbent will be accountable for the delivery of quality care including the assessment, diagnosis and prescribing services for the management of Veterans with acute and chronic mental illnesses in the outpatient setting. In the clinical setting, the incumbent will be responsible for serving a critical role in the outpatient continuity of care. S/He will independently manage a caseload of Mental Health patients within the Mental Health Clinic. S/He will participate in the treatment of Veterans in an outpatient treatment settings, provide ongoing evaluation and diagnosis, and assess psychological functioning, substance abuse, and psychosocial well-being, and treatment of Veterans. A primary function in this role includes providing assessment and diagnosis to individuals with mental illness and prescribing psychiatric medications and treatment.

    Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
