Drug Testing:
The position(s) which may be filled from this vacancy announcement have been identified as Testing Designated Positions under the Drug-Free Workplace Program. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Active police commission or one that expired, from a state, local, or municipal police academy equivalent to the basic police training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)
Investigation of Fitness:
A character investigation shall be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S. Government. The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature. Experience: One year of full-time specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized Experience is defined as providing law enforcement protection of life and property within the boundaries of the National Zoological Park; facilitating orderly flow of traffic both vehicular and pedestrians; patrolling parking areas and assisting the public with information about the Park and its collections; supervising or leading activities of the police force; inspecting and regulating activities to maintain maximum safety and security of the park; arranging work schedules and duty assignments; investigating complaints, accidents, incidents occurring within the park; and providing training of personnel in accepted police techniques.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
