    This position is for an INSPECTOR GENERAL, Position Description # D2248000 and is part of the ID 124 Wing, ID Air National Guard.

    ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IDAHO AIR NATIONAL GUARD.

    THIS POSITION IS INDEFINITE- MAY CONVERT TO A PERMANENT STATUS WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION IF POSITION BECOMES AVAILABLE. IF SELECTED, CURRENT TECHNICIAN'S TENURE WILL TRANSFER WITH MEMBER TO THIS POSITION.

    Responsibilities

    This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing Inspector General (IG) Office. This is an ANG Dual Status technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The Inspector General serves as the primary advisor to the wing commander with responsibility to plan, direct, and manage IG programs. The work of the position involves investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and regulations. Employee provides policy, guidance, oversight, and direction for the wing level inspection program; Complaints Resolution; Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA); strategic Plans and Programs; and the Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP).

    Serves as the Commander's principal advisor on Air Force Complaints Resolution and FWA programs ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and ensuring the best interest of the Air Force and Airmen needs are met. Counsels the Wing Commander on actions related to the Complaints Resolution process. Promotes SAF/IG and NGB-IG's requirement of unimpeded/unfiltered access to commanders to execute responsibilities. Serves as an integral but autonomous member of the Wing Commander's senior staff, and acts as the Commander's eyes and ears to be alert for and keep the Wing Commander informed of the wing climate and matters that are indicative of systemic, morale, or other problems that may impede efficiency and mission effectiveness. Recommends measures and assists senior military and civilian leadership including wing and unit commanders in preventing, detecting, and correcting FWA and gross mismanagement. Develops and executes a recurring education program to ensure wing members are aware of and understand their rights and responsibilities regarding the IG Complaints Resolution and FWA programs through base websites and newspapers, bulletins, newcomer's orientations, leadership schools, staff meetings, commander's calls, and work area visits. Ensures the concerns of ANG, State employees, civilian employees, family members, retirees, and the best interest of the Air Force and ANG are addressed through objective fact finding. Informs local commanders, associate/tenant units and Geographically Separated Units (GSUs), of potential areas of concern as reflected by trends based on analysis of complaint data. Serves as wing liaison for congressional, presidential, and other high level inquiries.
