This position is located in the Office of Planning, Design, and Construction (OPDC), Smithsonian Facilities (SF), Smithsonian Institution (SI) in Washington D. C. The incumbent observes and monitors construction activities for historic structures. He/she makes detailed technical reports to senior staff and recommends necessary action to correct deficiencies and identify areas of potential problems in accordance with the project construction documents, etc.Learn more about this agency
- Performs routine assignments under close supervision, such as inspecting materials to be used in construction, reviewing checklists for compliance, inspecting construction and renovation projects, and resolving discrepancies where possible.
- Under close supervision compares work in progress to written specifications. Work may be in any area of construction including excavations, roofing, plumbing, utilities, road work, historic preservation, etc.
- Provides information, checks facts, and locates materials as needed.
