    About the Position: This position is located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Pediatric Sub-Specialty in an ambulatory outpatient clinic setting. The hours are 8 or 9 hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Incumbent will provide clinical nursing duties for a Pediatric specialty population for 12 specialties, with a special emphasis on Pediatric Rheumatology and Pediatric Cardiology.

    • Provide nursing care to pediatric patients of various ages.
    • Observe, monitor, and assess the patients condition. Follow treatment/care plan provided by Licensed Independent Provider (LIP). Take immediate action to resolve issues that may arise.
    • Operate normal and complex/specialized pediatric medical equipment.
    • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to improve patient care.
    • Educate, counsel, and provide guidance to parents regarding the patients condition, illness, disease, issue, etc.
    • Identify changes in a child?s signs and symptoms and intervene in emergent situations.
    • Differentiate between normal and abnormal physical findings.
    • Analyze situations to anticipate pathophysiological problems and detect changes in status.
    • Administer medications multiple routes to include intravenous, using age-appropriate guidelines.
    • Provide care coordination and organize multidisciplinary clinics.
