    The optometrist selected for this position will provide comprehensive eye care services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergency conditions to a diverse population of Veterans.

    Duties of this position will include, but not limited to the treatment of the human eye:

    • Examine the eye by any method, other than surgery, to diagnose, treat, or refer for consultation or treatment of any abnormal condition of the human eye or its adnexa.
    • Utilize instruments, devices, pharmaceutical agents and procedures, other than surgery, intended for the purposes of investigating, examining, treating, diagnosing or correcting visual defects or abnormal conditions.
    • Prescribe lenses, devices containing lenses, prisms, contact lenses, orthoptics, vision training, pharmaceutical agents, or prosthetic devices to correct, relieve or treat defects or abnormal conditions.
    • Screen patients to assist in proper rtouing to appropriate health care provider.
    • Educate patients, residents, students regarding the ocular anomalies, ocular disease, and sight conservation.
    • Participate in research.
    • Familiar with RME and sterilization processing.
    • Duties as assigned by the Chief.

    Work Schedule: 6:45am - 5:30pm, 2 days a week. A schedule change may be considered and negotiated once onboard.
