    The Custodial Worker Leader position is in Environmental Management Services (EMS) of the Phoenix VA Healthcare System, Phoenix, AZ. The duties may include, but may not be limited to:

    • Assists the Housekeeping Supervisor with the daily functions of work and staff responsibilities to ensure assignments are complete to the highest level of cleanliness and in a timely manner.
    • Passes on to the other workers the instructions received from supervisors and getting work started, e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
    • Works along with other workers and setting the pace.
    • Demonstrates proper work methods.
    • Organizes any and all phases of the unit to respond to urgent situations while maintain job effectiveness.
    • Obtains needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that come up during the work.
    • Maintains current knowledge, and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
    • Leads and trains Housekeeping Aids, WG-2's in assigned unit in non-supervisory work of the housekeeping occupation.
    • Leads the work of Housekeeping Aids in a variety of tasks involving sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors; cleaning surfaces, window interiors, bathroom fixtures, and carpets and sanitation of patient, procedure, operating and waiting rooms, and other clinical and public spaces located throughout the facility.

    Work Schedule: 1 - 6:00pm - 2:30pm; 1 - 3:30pm - 12:00am; 1 - 7:30am-4:00pm;
