    Summary

    The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (USD(C)), Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Department of Defense (DoD) is responsible for carrying out the functions assigned by Title 10, United States Code, section 135. The USD(C) also is responsible for ensuring that the utmost economy and efficiency is applied to the acquisition programs of the Department through sound business management and effective fiscal planning and control.

    Responsibilities

    Your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Provides expert advice, interpretation, assistance, consultation and information on DoD, OPM, and OUSD(C) policies and programs related to financial management workforce education, training and development, and human capital
    • Supports interpretation and development of policies and procedures, which translate desired objectives into specific financial workforce management and professional development program requirements
    • Reviews, develops and coordinates recommendations to improve and strengthen controls over operations and programs
    • Participates in immediate and long range financial workforce management planning to ensure that programs are fully and effectively related to management and organizational goals.
