    This position is located in the Office of Overseas Programming and Training (OPATS), Office of Language Division. The purpose of OPATS is to support programming, training and evaluation staff at overseas posts to best position Volunteers for successful service. The incumbent serves as senior technical advisor on language program design and management, language program staff development, and language materials development.

    The Supervisory Training Specialist performs the following major duties:

    • Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system.
    • Observes workers' performance and demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques.
    • Develop tools and guidelines for formative, summative and comparative evaluation of posts’ language training program.
    • Conducts systematic program evaluations at overseas posts using established protocols for observation and feedback.
    • Provides leadership, expert advice, and assistance to the field in defining language training issues, conducting analysis of training programs, developing strategies, making workshop recommendations, conceptualizing or developing new programs.
    • Evaluates professional development needs of language training materials development staff at post and develops and shares technical guidance.
    • Advises on the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools that collect data on language training.
