    Summary

    This Position is in the Ambulatory Care Section of the Miami VA Healthcare System; We are seeking a primary care physician to care for our nation's heroes: US Veterans at the Bruce Carter Medical Center in Miami. Incumbent will provide primary care to Veterans with diverse medical conditions and provide efficient delivery of evidence-based care and must be qualified to diagnose, treat, stabilize and manage patients according to standard, usual and acceptable methods and techniques.

    Responsibilities

    Assure the most effective delivery of care in general primary care, while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Practice high flow primary care in a patient-friendly environment.Provide consultation, evaluation and treatment to manage various conditions, illnesses, and injuries; and conduct daily clinic administration.Make referrals, recommendations for treatment and/or medication and follow care of patients experiencing internal problems.Oversee the administration of medications to patients for whom therapy is indicated. Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff; Proficient in other components of patient management such as charting, progress notes, signatures, preparation of consults, referrals, telephone consults, etc.Have basic proficiency with a computer and willingness to learn the VA electronic medical record system.Participate in Outpatient Direct Patient Care (with& without resident teams).Provide surrogate coverage for peers.Provide shared On-Call coverage throughout the year.Will carry VA cellphone after hours for critical value notification.Participate in Academic Endeavors, Education Projects, and Quality Improvement Projects.Serve on hospital committees.Provide comprehensive women's health care and use telehealth modalities to provide care.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm(NOTE: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on patient care needs, including weekends, holidays, and nights.)
