- You will perform structural firefighting and rescue duties in buildings, housing units, or confined spaces to eliminate and control fires.
- You will use specialized rescue equipment (e.g., heavy rescue apparatus, hydraulic rescue tool, rescue harness) to perform confined space and rope or rescue operations.
- You will perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or automatic external defibrillation (AED) during respiratory and cardiac emergencies.
- You will establish initial on-scene control during hazardous materials incidents.
- You will drive a firefighting vehicle (e.g., pumper, aerial ladder truck, rescue truck, brush truck, quick-attack vehicle, airport rescue fire fighting vehicle) to the scene of a fire.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department brigade performing any of the following tasks: performing rescue operations; detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; operating fire communications equipment; and controlling hazardous materials incidents.
