The ideal candidate is one who is certified on both sit-down and stand-up forklifts, has the ability to obtain/ maintain a CDL and drive trucks up to 32,000 lbs on a regular basis, can operate a computer terminal and scan gun to record commodity data. EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
In this position, you will receive, unload, and process incoming shipments of equipment and supplies stored at FEMA Distribution Centers in support of federal disaster operations.
Typical duties include:
- Receiving, unloading, storing, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Verifying the quantity and quality of items received.
- Operating a computer terminal to record inventory data.
- Operating a forklift and trucks to move material and equipment.
Occasional travel - Occasional non-emergency travel may be required.
