    Responsibilities

    We are seeking full-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners to provide comprehensive initial mental health / psychiatric assessments and ongoing psychiatric care as part of an interdisciplinary team and in a variety of settings.

    Opportunities include:

    Outpatient Mental Health: The incumbent will provide mental health care for a panel of Veterans in the Outpatient Mental Health at the Raymond G. Murphy VAMC or Community Based Outpatient Clinics (on site or virtual) located throughout New Mexico. Day tour, Monday-Friday.

    Same Day Access/Gap Coverage: The incumbent will provide same day access for established outpatient mental health patients and provide provider gap coverage. Day tour Monday-Friday.

    Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI): The incumbent will work collaboratively with primary care providers to provide outpatient mental health services to Veterans within the primary care setting. The primary focus of this position is psychotropic medication evaluation and management. Work Schedule: Day tour, Monday-Friday.

    Mental Health Urgent Care/Emergency Psychiatry (BEACON Team): The incumbent will provide walk-in mental health services for Veterans who do not have an established mental health provider, or have urgent mental health needs. The incumbent provides emergency psychiatric consultation in the Emergency Department, including psychiatric evaluations and admissions. Incumbents will also work with the psychiatric consult liaison team as needed. This team provides services 7 am-11 pm 365 days a year using variable 8-10 hour tours to include evenings, weekends and holidays.

    Psychiatric Inpatient Services: The incumbent will provide medical and psychiatric evaluations, including admission history and physicals and treatment planning for Veterans who require inpatient psychiatric stabilization. Tours include weekend, evening and night coverage, based on the needs of the Service. 8 and 10 hour shifts.

    Medical Services: Opportunities may be available for Family Nurse Practitioners or Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioners to provide medical services in various areas within BHCL to include Psychiatric Primary Care, Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Program, and Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Service. Days and tours will be determined based on the needs of the service.
