EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
In this position, you will ensure that program policies and procedures are implemented in support of the Disaster Assistance Directorate's disaster assistance activities. Typical assignments include:
- Serving as the principal advisor to critical long-range facility planning activities on administrative management matters.
- Coordinating with and providing liaison functions between three National Processing Service Center and headquarters Human Capital Managers in the development of policies and procedures related to management of Stafford Act personnel.
- Exercising supervisory authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised.
- Independently performing human resources management liaison and advisory services for an organization with human resources issues of a complex or specialized nature.
- Developing recommendations and advice on administrative requirements for a complex organization. Participates in developing and implementing administrative management policies.
Occasional travel - Occasional non-emergency travel may be required.
