The OPS Director is responsible for the effective operation of the current Operations Division.You will collaborate with the other Components and interagency partners, support joint homeland security strategic-level integration and operations across the Components, other homeland security partners and all mission areas, including:Coordinating DHS and joint homeland security operations between or among DHS Components and federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, private sector and international partners and providing DHS and other government decision makers with critical terrorism and disaster (incident) related information.
Oversees the processing of requests for information and/or assistance from one DHS Component to another, and between DHS, another Federal entities, and/or homeland security partners during threats, events, or incidents.
Oversees the interagency Special Events Program.
Ensures effective strategic-level integration of homeland security operations across the mission spectrum of prevent, protect, mitigate, respond and recover.
In coordination with the Office of Intelligence and Analysis, provides daily, integrated operations and intelligence reporting and briefings to the Secretary and other Department senior leaders.
Gathers, integrate, de-conflict and report operational data from DHS Components, and from other federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, private sector, and international partners.
Ensures the Department maintains a comprehensive and effective continuity capability composed of Continuity of Operations and Continuity of Government programs.
Ensures plans and procedures are in place for and the Department is ready to execute:
Identifies, prioritizing, assessing, and conducting DHS and Component mission essential functions and primary mission essential functions in support of national essential functions.
Identifies, prioritizing, assessing, remediation, and securing the Department's internal critical infrastructure.
Develops, signs, and implements Department-level continuity plans to fulfill DHS requirements including adoption of quantifiable performance measurements in the areas of continuity training, planning, equipment, and exercises for DHS continuity operations.
In coordination with the Chief Information Officer, maintains and facilitates executive communications capabilities in order to provide reliable communications for the Office of the Secretary and DHS Leadership.
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications; applicant's resumes and supporting documentation should only reflect education received from schools accredited by such institutions.
Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires each and every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background investigation for TOP Secret/SCI clearance a as a condition of placement in this Special Sensitive position. This review includes financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.
Probationary period: You will serve a one-year probationary period unless you previously completed the probationary period in the SES.
This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters Drug-Free Workplace Program. The incumbent is required to sign a Condition of Employment form (for certain positions identified as critical under the drug testing program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment, reassignment, or transfer, and employee will be subject to random testing while employed with the Department in a TDP.
