    This position is accountable to the Chief Nurse of Specialty and Surgical Care with second line reporting to Associate Director Patient and Nursing Services/ Nurse Executive.

    Responsibilities

    Administrates the day to day operations for the Medical Specialty outpatient clinics. This includes interpreting policies and directives, developing, implementing and maintaining local policies and standard operating procedures (SOP). Serves as a role model for the professional nursing practice. Utilizes the VA's mission and vision to implement system changes in health care delivery that maintain quality patient care and fiscal integrity. Creatively responds to changes in the work setting and participates in program planning for new projects. Ensures compliance with infection control procedures, safety measures, and computer security. Manages program resources (financial, human, material and informational) to facilitate safe, effective and efficient care. Provides practice options for cost savings. Demonstrate financial skills in performing cost/benefit analyses, fiscal control and resource management. Grants requests for leave judiciously and fairly. Counsels staff members when patterns of leave abuse are detected and place them on certification as necessary. Utilizes the V A's mission and vision to implement system changes in health care delivery that maintain quality patient care and fiscal integrity. Creatively responds to changes in the work setting and participates in program planning for new projects.

    Work Schedule: Primarily Monday - Friday, Day Shift with weekends and off shifts as needed.
