The Supervisory Medical Technologist supervises and manages the day-to-day work of technologists and technicians. Recommends appointment, plans and assigns work, gives advice and counsel and evaluates work of subordinates. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring test analysis and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of performance. Assures corrective action is initiated. Assures orientation, training and competency assessment of assigned staff Develops and updates technical policy and procedure manuals. Ensures all staff and affiliate staff are in compliance with accrediting and regulating bodies. The Supervisory Medical Technologist adjusts staffing levels or work procedures to accommodate resource allocation decisions made at the executive level. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight of Miami VA and Broward Community Based Outpatient Clinic technical operations, schedules, training, quality assurance/control, and administration, directing and assuring competency of personnel performing preanalytical activities. The incumbent plays a critical role in the accurate, reliable and timely test results of the clinical laboratory by overseeing the collection, identification and handling of patient specimens. The incumbent is responsible for the training and competency of the employees performing phlebotomy at the main facility, as well as the 8 Community Based Outpatient Clinics with quarterly visits and competency assessment of all employees performing phlebotomy at those facilities. Individual will work alongside OPL team, will cover general duties and adjust tour of duty as need be.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Tour of Duty may vary as needed)
