    Housekeeping Aides at the Department of Veterans Affairs take pride in their work and the direct results are seen throughout our facilities. The Housekeeping Aide reports to the Housekeeping Supervisors within the Environmental Management Section for the purpose of all inside cleaning tasks, waste management, operation of equipment, and other related duties.

    MAJOR DUTIES include but are not limited to:

      • Operates & maintains equipment
      • Must be able to use, move, and control heavy equipment
      • Transport and work from ladders
      • Frequently lifts objects weighing over 40 pounds
      • Perform minor maintenance changing vacuum bags, power scrubber squeegees, and buffer pad holders
      • Operates power equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and floor polisher
      • Cleans building Interiors
      • Sweep, wet mops, dust mops, vacuum, finishes and polished floors
      • Cleans and disinfects restrooms, showers, and dressing rooms
      • Fills all paper towel, toilet paper and soap dispensers; checks dispensers just prior to going off duty and fills as needed
      • Cleans, dusts, and polished furniture, doors, door and window frames and sills, radiators, window treatments, desks, beds, and bed locker
      • Empties all trash receptacles
      • Collects and disposes of non-contaminated and/or biohazard waste
    • Work schedule: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm and/or 3:30-12am, Sat-Sun 7am-3:30pm and/or 2:30-11pm
