    Summary

    The incumbent of this position will serve as a health technician in the Ophthalmology Department providing a variety of specialized diagnostic procedures and other ancillary support for Eye Care providers to ensure efficient, high quality care.

    The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Manages clinic efficiency and flow under the direction of ophthalmologists and/or optometrists.
    • Performs periodic consultations, reviews, and education to ensure all required tests are being performed appropriately and safely.
    • Supervises the set-up and clean-up of the minor surgery room and the preparation of patients and instruments for intraocular injections and clinic surgeries, including biopsies.
    • Interviews and examines patients in an eye care clinic setting.
    • Measures and records distance and near vision, and performs lensometry and autorefraction.
    • Performs retinal imaging.
