    Summary

    This position is located in Collections and Exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG), Smithsonian Institution. The employee leads the management of its collections and recommends policies, priorities, goals and objectives to maintain and enhance the preservation, security, and access to collection objects.

    Responsibilities

    1. Implements the NPG’s Collections Management Policy, continuously monitoring the policy for suitability to both Gallery’s and the Institution’s needs and conformance with applicable current laws and statutory regulations and updating and revising as appropriate.
    2. Oversees the movement and security of artworks, ensuring that all objects belonging to the NPG or in its custody are secured, shipped, crated, and handled with appropriate measures.
    3. Plans and implements programs of the Registrar’s Office.
