The VA Boston Healthcare System is seeking one full-time Physical Therapist (PT) for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service. This position will serve as a Float PT to provide patient care coverage during times of staff leave and high patient/consult volume. This position will be utilized at all of our VA Boston Campuses (West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, or Brockton) but this will be done in a scheduled manner. This position reports directly to the Physical Therapy Supervisor.

The Physical Therapist will be independent with managing an assigned caseload in our outpatient clinic environment, inpatient acute care setting, or our Community Living Center with our sub-acute rehabilitation and long term care population. Recent experience treating adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical conditions, both simple and complex, is required. Clinical experience treating adults in both inpatient and outpatient populations is also highly recommended, as the position will be required to be versatile between various campuses and clinics. The duties include but are not limited to: perform independent patient evaluations using appropriate standardized tests; independently develop, implement, and modify physical therapy treatment programs; recognize contraindications and appropriateness of treatment prescribed by referring provider; provide timely and accurate written documentation of patient status, progress with therapy, therapy plan, and patient response to treatment in accordance with policy; interact professionally and courteously with all VA staff, patients, and patients' families/caregivers, and managing caseload at a productive standard. Work Schedule: Full Time Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5: 30 PM

Physical Requirements: The work involves standing, stooping, lifting (frequently greater than 50 pounds), sitting, pulling, assisting patients in transferring from various devices (bed, W/C, floor, motorized vehicles, mats,etc.). Additionally, moving patient and supplies and pushing patient in their manual or motorized wheelchairs. The Physical Therapist is required to work at a computer work station to complete his/her documentation of incidents involving patients and the progress in the patient's overall PT program. Occasionally, the PT may need to drive a government vehicle.

assessment for substantial equivalency to the first professional degree in the US. The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) is committed to protect the public and to provide leadership within the field and practice of physical therapy. FSBPT's Foreign Educated Standards Committee has developed standards that represent "best practices" in evaluation services. The Credentials Evaluation Standards were developed with input from the physical therapy credentialing agencies that are licensed to use FSBPT's Coursework Tool.
