    This position serves as a Safety Engineer in Army Futures Command (AFC), Safety and Occupational Health Office, located in Austin, TX.     Responsibilities

    • As a Senior Engineer, technical expert, consultant, advisor and/or team leader responsible for the engineering program areas of explosive safety,?chemical and biological agent, ammunition, radiation safety, and facility design and siting programs.
    • Plan and technically manage, direct, control, and coordinate the efforts of numerous contractors and other government agencies.
    • Develop plans for assigned program areas and take action to assure plans for explosives and radiation safety are in consonance with guidance and policy of AFC and higher headquarters including procedures and other types of directives.
    • Establish and revise Command safety directives, policies, procedures, techniques, etc., for use in connection with assigned responsibility.
    • Review and evaluate engineering concepts, designs, periodic and special report on systems, contract technical scopes of work, contractors proposals; results of tests on propellants, motors, explosive components and complete systems.
    • Review and evaluate processes and techniques relative to explosive ordnance items and propellants with respect to explosive safety, design features, and handling procedures to insure adequate safety provisions for personnel and equipment.

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel up to 15% to other locations for this position.
