    Summary

    The Phoenix Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (PVAHCS) is seeking an interventional cardiologist with skills in coronary angioplasty and stenting The incumbent will join an established cardiology program affiliated with the University of Arizona School of Medicine and actively involved in the training of residents and cardiology fellows. The cardiology section includes 7 full-time cardiologists, 2 mid-levels, and 7 outpatient nurses. Opportunities for teaching and research are available.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be expected to act in a clinical capacity as an interventional cardiologist with additional duties shared across the section. Duties will include performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Additional duties will include interpreting echocardiograms, seeing outpatients, inpatient rounding, performing transesophageal echocardiograms, reading holter monitors, reading event monitors, daily reading of electrocardiograms, and sharing in nightly and weekend call schedule with the rest of the section. Other duties as determined by the Section Chief and Chair of Medicine. The incumbent will be expected to teach and instruct cardiology fellows and medical residents as necessary.

    EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other physicians and to participate in the training of residents and cardiology fellows. This includes but is not limited to instruction in echocardiography, supervision of fellows, and participation in lectures according to LCME and ACGME guidelines.

    Maintains Continuing Medical Education (CME), State Medical License, and VA mandatory training prior to expiration.

    Maintain certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

    ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    As requested by the Chief of Medicine or Chief of Cardiology Service, attends and provides input, as appropriate, to the inpatient management and other committees and councils, as needed.

    Actively promotes Quality and Patient Safety Improvement measures.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; Scheduled determined by the section chief
