    Summary

    This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursing program. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility requirement and submit your applicationwithin four months of appointment.The final award amount (up to $200,000)and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.

    Responsibilities

    Walk in Evaluation Clinic provides episodic interventions for patients with complaints ranging from administrative problems up to, and including urgent clinical needs. The clinic services provide scheduled appointments for new and returning primary care for large numbers of veterans seen in and followed within the Health Care System for a wide variety of common medical and psychiatric problems.Walk in Evaluation Clinic provides episodic interventions for patients with complaints ranging from administrative problems up to, and including urgent clinical needs.     Functions/Scope
    Staff physician provides comprehensive primary care to a primary care panel of eligible veterans. A wide variety of medical conditions are treated, including but not limited to:
    -hypertension,
    -diabetes,
    -hyperlipidemia
    -coronary artery disease,
    -neurological disorders,
    -endocrine disorders,
    -dermatological conditions,
    -follow up for inpatient as well as outpatient surgical procedures,
    -urologic conditions,
    -eye evaluations,
    -dental evaluation and care,
    -anticoagulation monitoring,
    -chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,
    -degenerative arthritis,
    -depression, and geriatric problems,

    Assess the patient to determine the nature of the disease process and provide appropriate treatment.

    - provide instruction and/or education concerning
    -treatment/diagnosis/medications.
    -Contact other medical personnel for necessary consultation
    -Provide referral to Specialty Clinics as appropriate.
    -Admit to the Medical Center patients who require acute inpatient care.
    -Provide for follow up as necessary.
    -Emphasize Preventive and health screening for veteran patients.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 0800 hrs. - 1630 hrs
