    Responsible for the overall managerial duties associated with the organization, implementation, and evaluation of an effective and ongoing inpatient nursing program. Provides direction and ensures monitoring, evaluation, and improvement in the quality and appropriateness of inpatient nursing. This position is located at Indian Health Service (IHS), Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS), Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC), Division of Nursing Services, Nursing Administration, Gallup, NM.

    • Provides direct supervision of Supervisory Nurses and select Nurse Specialist in the inpatient nursing units, providing orientation as well as competency and performance evaluation.
    • Coordinates activities and communication between departments to develop policies, procedures, standards of care, and performance improvement activities; ensuring standardization throughout departments.
    • Ensure compliance with regulating agencies and third party payer requirements in relation to inpatient nursing services.
    • Maintains budget for inpatient nursing services including personnel, FTE's, equipment, supplies, travel, training and timekeeping.
    • Advises subordinates with workload data and assist with the development of staffing plans and performance improvement projects that address the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of inpatient nursing services.
    • Ensure staff members meet nationally recognized certification standards and maintain current license.
    • On occasion will provide clinical supervision on rotational bases including performance of Tour Supervisory Nurse.
    • Applies and implements EEO programs and guidelines, etc.
