The primary purpose of this position is to install, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components, such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gear boxes, and hydraulic, pressurization, utility, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems.Responsibilities
- Performs troubleshooting on a variety of major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components.
- Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles major aircraft systems, their assemblies, and components.
- Accomplishes operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regularions and maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Determines the nature of trouble and extent of adjustment or repair required on a number of major aircraft systems such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gear boxes, pumps, and hydraulic

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the 8800 - Aircraft Overhaul Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies, such as fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation systems, engines, landing gear assemblies, airframe, and control surfaces.
2. Knowledge of a wide variety of parts, components, subsystems, and assemblies such as ejection seats, nuclear shielding, or similar self-contained systems.
3. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Knowledge of supply procedures, the publication order system, and documentation procedures
5. Skill m the use of standard and specialized tools and test equipment including fixtures, templates, scales, teststands, and external power sources.
6. Skill m reading and understanding data and settings from cockpit instruments and gauges
7. Ability to rig, function test, or troubleshoot systems, determine when they are operating properly or whether portions of the system should be repaired or replaced, and the type and extent of adjustment and alignment needed
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
