As a Safety and Occupational Health Manager you will:
- Provide technical advice and guidance to program and field management in establishing and implementing a worker safety and health program that meets Department policies, standards, and criteria, and in establishing the adequacy of their existing implementation efforts to conform the safety requirements for programs using information gained through consultation with other technical experts.
- Serve as a program manager in the DOE Voluntary Protection Program, including performing assessments, working with other program staff, program participants, and industry associations to help achieve excellence in worker safety and health. DOE VPP participants’ missions involve some of the most technical, unique and critical worker safety and health issues associated with all aspects of the Department’s programs.
- Perform various tasks requiring expert occupational health management knowledge, such as participation in accident investigations and consultation with other Federal departments/agencies, state and local governments, and private industry groups.
- Work with committees, task forces, etc., comprised of eminent scientists and engineers. Consult and negotiate on highly sensitive, specific issues with diverse groups and participates in special projects for the development of safety guidance for operations of exceptional importance because of unusual, potential hazards.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- Knowledge of Federal, state and local environment safety and health regulations applicable to the agencies sites and facilities.
