    This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program. The program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school. The Internship provides managers a ready source of student employees and potential permanent employees upon completion of the program requirements. It also provides the student with work experience directly related to the curriculum studies or career goals while offering eligibility for non-competitive conversion to permanent employment upon completion.     The student trainee position will assist Budget Analyst by consolidating and compiling budgetary data, perform a variety of budget support work involving accounts maintenance and reporting of all labor, materials, and overhead costs incurred or accrued in connection with a medical facility operating program. This position is specifically aimed at students looking for exposure to Financial (aka Budget) and Controllership (aka Accounting) processes in a large, sophisticated, and complicated integrated health system. Some of the Major duties of this position include:

    Reconcile computerized reports and manual subsidiary records,

    Perform statistical and mathematical calculations to make projections and accumulate data for reports and cost/use studies.

    Provide support and assistance to the Budget Analyst in preparing financial cost and budgetary review, and will provide accounting data to assist in preparation of the VA Boston Healthcare System's budget plan.

    Participate in committees and task groups.

    Work Schedule: Full Time

    Note: This Internship appointment ends 120 calendar days after the selectee's graduation date.
    Note: This position is covered by locality-based comparability pay.
    Note: Selectee may be required to work at any Boston Healthcare System campus, as needed.
    Note: This position is in the Excepted Service.

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position between VA Boston Healthcare Campuses
