    Summary

    The selectees of this position will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER within the HQ of NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND located in Washington, D.C.; Groton, CT; Pascagoula, MS; Dahlgren, VA; Newport News, VA; or Bath, ME.

    Responsibilities

    • You will serve as a consultant and expert advisor applying advanced concepts, principles, and processes for life cycle engineering and management of various systems, subsystems, equipment, and procedures for assigned engineering areas.
    • You will provide scientific, technical, and professional engineering advice and guidance to organizational leaders and supporting project/program and execution elements.
    • You will be responsible for acquisition development, fielding, and sustainment of program incorporating standardization, commonality, configuration and risk management, design for logistics support, test and evaluation, and modeling and simulation.
    • You will direct, manage, chair, advise and report on engineering studies, projects, and experiments.
    • You will serve as a recognized expert and consultant to ensure reliability and accuracy in the identification, development and implementation of recommended solutions to highly complex problems.
    • You will provide authoritative technical, scientific, and/or professional advice to senior level leadership concerning unusual or critical problems that often affect the work of internal and external stakeholders.
    • You will establish and maintain internal and external channels of communication across government and industry.
