The order of area of consideration in which the certificates of eligibility will be issued is as follows: 1. Current Permanent Aleda E. Lutz VAMC Employees; 2. External Applicants.
The Neurologist position consists of Assessments, consults, and treats patients with general neurological conditions. Consults for inpatients with neurological diagnoses, and helps rule in or out certain medical conditions that may be related to a neurological etiology; including interpretation of neurological imaging including MRI, CT Scan, reading EEGs, EMGs, and performing lumbar punctures. Acts as the consultant for patients referred to him/her for opinion. Routinely follows patients who have chronic severe neurological conditions who need periodic follow up in clinic. Duties including, but not limited to:
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
Subject to a background/security investigation
You may be required to serve a two year probationary period

Physical Requirements: Occasionally perform Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.); straight pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulder; walking (up to 3 hours); standing (up to 3 hours); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Repetitive motions: constant substantial movements (motion) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Note: Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) before the starting date of the position. The BLS requirement is satisfied by successfully completing an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Course or Military Training Network (MTN). The ACLS requirement is satisfied by attaining, and maintaining, current status through an approved AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course. No online certifications will be accepted.
