The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for the Office of Special Reviews has broad responsibility for ensuring the success of the program, exercising executive leadership, management and direction over the Office. Additionally, the incumbent has responsibility for supervising and directing timely, complex, reviews and special projects carried out by Office staff. These reviews and special projects could include working collaboratively with other Directorates.
The incumbent is responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising reviews and special projects. Duties include prioritizing and directing the work of the Office of Special Reviews that focuses on sensitive and often highly visible matters; demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness in order to complete multiple and varied assignments on short deadlines; leading an office that identifies high profile issues needing immediate review; organizing direction and management of a comprehensive program of administrative and special reviews and projects, surveys and studies covering all activities and levels of VA in central Office and field stations as well as individuals and organizations having official dealings with VA. The position also requires initiating and developing special studies and reviews based on interests or requests from such sources as Hotline contacts, Congress, or the media.
