    The Office of Audit (OA) is responsible for conducting and supervising audits relating to the Department of Labor's programs and operations; recommending policies for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of the Department's programs and operations; and preventing and detecting fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in these programs and operations.  This position is located Office of Policy and Review (OPR).

    Prepares the OA’s portion of the Semiannual Report to Congress and Top Management Challenges. Provides the Assistant Inspector General for Audit (AIGA) and the Deputy Assistant Inspectors General for Audit (AIGAs) with recommendations regarding the focus and content of the OA portion of the IG's Semiannual Report and Top Management Challenges, and develops and coordinates the OA section for inclusion in the IG's reports. Prepares written products for inclusion in Semiannual Reports of the IG and Secretary of Labor.

    Coordinates with Audit Directors, DAIGAs, and AIGA to develop the annual audit workplan. As required, works with Audit Directors to develop audit reports. Conducts trend analysis on audit findings and recommendations in order to plan current and future work; and tracks performance metrics for OA. 

    Provides support for audit planning and new project development. Recommends changes in the OA work plan, where justified. Ensures that the Annual Audit Plan includes follow-up on significant findings in GAO and OIG reports and statutory changes.

    Develops and implements policies and procedures for planning and conducting audits.  Reviews all written products OA issues (AIGA signature) for form, grammar, spelling, tone, logical presentation, etc. Participates in ensuring risk assessments are properly considered in OA’s strategic and annual work planning activities.

    Uses critical thinking to analyze audit report content to determine whether recommendations are supported by audit findings, and that weaknesses discussed in findings are addressed by recommendations. Demonstrates critical thinking skills by helping audit teams develop effective solutions to problems found in draft reports and other written products.

    Assists the Audit Director in managing the audit resolution process.  Assists in establishing comprehensive training and development plans for the Office of Audit (OA). Assists in managing the oversight and disposition of hotline complaints referred to the Office of Audit.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Subject to travel of 20% or greater.
