The position is located in the Vehicle Management Division of the Office of Facilities and Logistics, Chief Administrative Office. United States Police (USCP). The incumbent performs the full range mechanical repairs, services and adjustments to a wide variety of fleet vehicles performs preventive maintenance and installs and removes police emergency equipment and accessories.
The candidate selected for this position performs the full range of repairs, services and adjustments to a wide range of fleet vehicles including trucks, vans, buses, special bomb and hazmat vehicles, light towers, message centers, trailers and all United States Capitol Police (USCP) equipment. Duties include diagnosing and performing repairs to electrical and ignition, heating and air conditioning, steering and suspension, wheels, axles and brakes, engine and transmission, and fuel and injection systems and reviewing completed work for quality.
Employee uses a wide variety of test equipment to trace, diagnose, and locate defects and determine the type and extent of repairs required and disassembles, inspects and rebuilds components in completing tasks. Serves as primary installer, repair and service mechanic for fleet emergency equipment including emergency lighting, mobile telephones, sirens, radios, shot gun racks, alarm systems, and switch panels. Performs preventive maintenance and service inspections. Performs extensive repair of bicycles.
