You will serve as a Oceanogapher, Physical Scientist or Geophysicist in the Ocean Processing Branch (NP322), Synoptic Applications Division (NP32), Oceanographic Department (NP3), Naval Oceanographic Office of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
- You will process, edit and review hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data.
- You will compile and integrate hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data from various sources to a final product.
- You will assist in the collection, processing, reviewing and evaluation of hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic, and/or geophysical data during periods of travel whicle be a member of the survey team.
- You will perform manual and automated evaluation, classification and distribution of hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical data.
- You will develop and implement new and improved methods and techniques used for the collection and processing of hydrographic, bathymetric, oceanographic and/or geophysical survey data.
75% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position.

For GS-09 Physical Scientist, Geophysicist or Oceanographer positions: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Experience participating in field operations on oceanographic surveys,
*Experience configuring, preparing, and testing oceanographic instruments for deployment,
*Experience analyzing and interpreting physical oceanographic data, OR
*2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
For GS-07 Physical Scientist, Geophysicist or Oceanographer positions: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Experience participating in field operations on oceanographic surveys,
*Experience assisting in the collection and processing of oceanographic sensor survey data,
*Experience monitoring oceanographic instrument data processing and distribution applications, OR
*1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement.

A. Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.), OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
For GS-1360 position:
a. Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences, OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION:
This vacancy is for a one or two year program depending on grade selection.
Recent Graduates may be non-competitively converted to a permanent position in the competitive service (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must:
