The LPN is responsible for observing, recording and reporting changes in the patient's condition, as well as assisting in the development and revision of the patient-driven holistic care plan. He/she is under the direction of the Surgical Clinic RN Case Manager as assigned and will cross train to a minimum of 3 of the 11 surgical clinics The Surgical Clinic LPN is a member of the Out Patient Surgical Clinic team and assist providers and RN Case Managers with outpatient procedures. The LPN possesses expertise in theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. The LPN also shares responsibility for endoscope processing, pre-cleaning, and maintenance along with stocking and handling instruments for all endoscopy procedures. The LPN assists patient/residents to prepare for their procedure, such as changing clothes, provide basic information regarding the procedure. Documents pre-procedure patient/resident information on chart and communicates any abnormal findings to supervising RN. Administers IV therapy according to VA policy. Communicates effectively with all endoscopy team members, planning and discussing each procedure with endoscopy professionals and assures that all supplies and equipment are available prior to the procedure. Assists with the collection, labeling, and recording of specimens. Provides safe transportation of patient/residents. Records in the medical record nursing care, observations, procedures, and vital signs. Provide support to schedule patient/residents for procedures, and provide preprinted instructions for patient/residents preparing for tests. Maintains procedure room supplies in a neat and organized fashion, restocking from main storage area as needed and prior to each day's procedures. Assist with administrative functions of the unit, which includes clerical support such as answering and returning telephone calls, coordinating the scheduling, and maintaining office files. Performs other related duties as directed.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday,8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional weekends.
