    About the Position:
    Incumbent serves as System Safety Engineer in the Safety Directorate, Army Futures Command.Duty location will be Austin Texas.

    • Designated as the principal official in the Safety Engineering functional area of the HQAFC Safety Office.
    • Recognized as a systems safety authority throughout the Army acquisition safety program.
    • Plans, administers, coordinates, and evaluates a comprehensive safety engineering program for AFC, its subordinate commands, installations, project managers, and activities.
    • Engaged in widely diversified and highly specialized activities with a variety of high-risk operations, equipment, and hazardous materials.
    • AFC system safety concerns itself with providing safe equipment to the soldier in the field and with avoiding death, injury, and property damage.
    • Weapons review boards provide the Materiel Developer a proactive means to identify and correct potential problems from a system perspective early in the life cycle prior to fielding to the warfighter.
    • Facility system safety focuses on the design of safe work environments for the AFC workforce throughout the world-wide complex of AFC installations.
    • Exercise initiative and innovation and independently plans, designs, and carries out assigned programs.
    • Formulate and establish broad policy, guidance, plans, and direction for the system safety portion of a Safety Program and develop policies, regulations, standards, and procedures in order to govern materiel system safety management and engineering

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel up to 10% to other locations for this position.
