    About the Position: The Labor & Delivery Unit is committed to providing comprehensive family-centered care to all beneficiaries and their family members. The position requires that the selected candidate be available to perform rotating shift work. This position requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, or stooping, as well as the ability to lift, push, or pull objects, greater than 50 pounds.

    • Provide a wide spectrum of obstetrical and labor care by obstetrical and gynecological specialty physicians, certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, obstetrical registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and administrative staff.
    • Perform a variety of RN duties to include, but not limited to, assessing and managing the patients? physical condition and progress through the labor and delivery process.
    • Asses fetal well-being by means of electronic fetal monitoring and other standard parameters.
    • Initiate parent/infant bonding by promoting a baby-friendly environment while assessing the needs of the patient and family.
    • Administer intravenous fluids and medications.
    • Respond to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment as well as order diagnostic tests as needed.
    • Act as the patient advocate and collaborate with fellow members of the Labor and Delivery care team.
    • Provide education and support to the patients and their family members.
