    This position is located at Roseburg VA Health Care System, in Roseburg, Oregon, in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (PALMS). As the laboratory manager, the incumbent is fully responsible for managing and supervising all phases of laboratory service operations.

    Responsibilities

    The laboratory manager provides guidance and serves as an authority on laboratory medicine. Duties include developing guidelines, assessing laboratory effectiveness, establishes and maintains quality management and performance improvement programs. PALMS provides assistance to several outpatient clinics. In this capacity, the incumbent provides administrative support and staff assistance to the chief of PALMS who reports to the chief of staff.
    Two major duties of the laboratory manager are:

    1. To provide management and coordination of all section leaders, clinical and non-clinical staff in the laboratory (office personnel and blood drawing personnel).
    2. Provision of staff assistance to the chief of PALMS and provides oversight and/or administrative support to the following section of PALMS: Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Phlebotomy/Specimen Receiving, as well as appropriate support for CBOC laboratories.
    Work Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and when organizational need arises

    NOTE: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. If selected for this position, you are encouraged to apply for this award program and must meet specific individual eligibility criteria in accordance with VA Policy 1021. Employees must apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment. Final award amount and program start date is determined after review of a complete EDRP application and supporting documentation by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services team. Maximum award is total amount of qualifying loans up to $200,000. If selected, the local HR POC will provide the EDRP contact information for application materials and procedures.
