- Collects and records information on items such as water quality and sediment samples.
- Conducts radio dispatch operations.
- Enforces rules and regulations regarding project use, patrols camp grounds, and directs traffic.
- Develops and conducts interpretive talks and guided tour programs.
- Checks usage and condition of public use areas, commercial docks, group camps, and other recreation areas, including safety, fire, sanitation, and maintenance.
- Performs various light maintenance tasks.
- Assists higher graded employees collecting data on visitor attendance/user counts and erosion problems.

General Experience is defined as: experience in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work that provided a familiarity with natural or cultural history; fish or wildlife habitat characteristics; techniques of resource protection and use; recreational use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in dealing with the general public.
Specialized experience is defined as performing work such as: experience performing work for a recreation program (i.e. fishing, water skiing, camping, hiking, or other outdoor recreation activities either paid or voluntary work).
