The Selective Service System is an independent agency whose mission is to maintain a system that can promptly and efficiently furnish manpower for induction into the Armed Forces during a national emergency, and objectors during a draft. The incumbent will serve as lead accountant and perform the full range of financial reporting, accounting and related financial management activities.

As an ACCOUNTANT at the GS-0510-12, some of the typical work assignments may include:
Prepare a range of financial reports and statements including but not limited to: period end reporting, Federal financial statements, year-end closing statements, quarterly report on budget execution and Statement of budgetary resources, etc.
Submits agency reports to Treasure and OMB, including but not limited to GTAS, MDR, TROR, GFRS, CARS, etc.
Audits and reconciles financial data from the general ledger and ledger accounts to make adjustments in accounting systems.
Prepares variance analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts to maintain USSGL compliance.
Participates in the implementation of new and revised notices, directives and operating standards on financial and accounting matters.
Provides technical assistance and expertise to agency managers and auditors.
